Set up SPRO NVR

The technical side of oneSPRO camera systemcan seem overwhelming at first.Set up Spro nvrgives you clear and practical explanations so that you can set up your system quickly and correctly. CentraalAlarm is also ready for personal technical advice if you are unable to resolve it.

Technical terms explained

Who aSPRO camera systemyou will soon come across terms such as NVR, PoE, IP camera, ONVIF and port forwarding. An NVR (Network Video Recorder) is the central recording unit that stores and manages the images from all connected IP cameras. PoE stands for Power over Ethernet: the camera receives both data and power via one network cable, without a separate power cord. An IP camera is a networked camera that sends digital images via the local network or the Internet.

ONVIF is a standard that ensures that SPRO cameras are also compatible with NVRs from other brands and vice versa, provided both are ONVIF compliant. Port forwarding is a setting in the router that allows remote access to the NVR or camera via the internet. CentraalAlarm helps you understand all these concepts and translate them into a practical installation.

Setting up SPRO NVR: step by step

Connect the SPRO NVR to a monitor via HDMI or VGA, connect it to the router via a network cable and switch it on. Follow the start-up assistant that guides you through the basic settings: language, date and time, network setting and creating an administrator account with a strong password. Then connect the SPRO PoE cameras to the PoE ports of the NVR. Most models automatically recognize the cameras and add them to the overview.

Then set the recording settings: do you want to record continuously, only when there is movement or at fixed times? Also set the detection zones for accurate motion detection and configure the notification settings so that you receive a push notification when motion or other events are detected. Don't forget to check the storage capacity: a two-terabyte hard drive provides an average of two to four weeks of continuous recording space for four cameras at standard quality.

Update firmware and reset camera

Regular firmware updates are essential for the security and performance of your SPRO system. Updates fix known vulnerabilities and sometimes add new features. Download the latest firmware from the official SPRO website via the serial number or model of your camera or NVR. Follow the instructions carefully and always make a backup of the current settings first.

When a SPRO camera is not responding properly, a forgotten password is the problem, or the settings need to be reconfigured, a factory reset is the solution. The reset button is usually located on the back or bottom of the camera and on most models must be pressed for ten seconds while the camera is turned on. Please note: after a reset, all settings and saved images on the camera are deleted. CentraalAlarm will help you with technical questions and also has support available for more complex problems.

Connect SPRO camera to phone

Download the Hik-Connect or iVMS-4500 app on your smartphone. Create an account and add your camera or NVR via the QR code on the device or via manual entry of the serial number. Make sure the camera and your phone are connected to the same WiFi network for the initial pairing. After successful connection, the live images are available via the app, also on mobile data when you are outside the home. CentraalAlarm also offers telephone support for setting up the app and solving connection problems.
